WaSH stands for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Clean water, basic toilets and good hygiene practices are essential for the survival and development of children. With the WasH program, UNICEF tries to improve water and sanitation services and basic hygiene practices for those children and families who lack access to these basic needs.
The WaSH program covers a wide range of activities including the installation of water pumps, educating adolescents on menstruation, spreading the practice of hand-washing, constructing toilets and hand-washing facilities in schools and health centers, etc.
In 2016 we committed ourselves to a long-term partnership with the UNICEF WaSH program. We started with an initial donation to UNICEF that funded 694 basic hygiene and water kits.
The Shift – UNGC
The Shift is the Belgian meeting point for sustainability. As the national contact point for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, UN Global Compact and CSR Europe, The Shift brings together over 350 entities ranging from private companies, NGOs, academic institutions, governmental bodies and other key actors in society. Together with their members and partner organisations, The Shift aims to develop innovative solutions to the biggest challenges faced by our planet, people and future prosperity.
Their guiding principles are the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In order to facilitate the implementation of the SDGs, we want to ensure for our members a smooth interaction between the international and local sustainability agenda as the Global Compact Network Belgium (GCNB).
